Putrajaya City Business Directory
Officially called the Federal Territory of Putrajaya, Putrajaya is the home of the federal government of Malaysia. In 1999, the transition of power was made to this planned city because Kuala Lumpur was becoming extremely congested.
While Kuala Lumpur was able to retain its status as the capital of Malaysia, Putrajaya became the administrative capital of Malaysia. Currently, it is the third-largest federal territory in the country.
Since Putrajaya is a planned city, it has a number of Government complexes including the office of the Prime Minister, the Residence of the Prime Minister, the Palace of Justice, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The city was planned as a garden city, therefore it has 38% of its total area covered in green spaces. Interestingly, it is one of the largest cities in Southeast Asia.
The Persiaran Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah roundabout is the largest roundabout in the world, with a perimeter of 3.5km. The city is very well connected by roads to the rest of the country. Putrajaya is twinned with Sejong City in South Korea and Cyberjaya in Malaysia.
